Saturday, October 29 was a beautiful day in Rosarito as a van full of volunteers headed down to the site of My Father’s House. There was already a line full of kids and mothers waiting as the van pulled up. A few families from two local churches were also waiting preparing to set up the much anticipated activities. We started the day in prayer and then eagerly we started to set up.
The line grew longer and longer as the volunteers set up fun stations for the kids: facepainting, temporary tatoos, minute-to-win-it games, hula hoops and the grand finale – the pinatas! There were kids of all ages from babies to teens and the joy and smiles on the kids’ faces were everywhere! It was so fun seeing so many of the kids with their faces painted and walking around with bags of treats.
There were probably over 160 people from the community there. It was incredible seeing how much fun these kids were having on a simple piece of land that is only dirt right now. It will be amazing to one day watch My Father’s House stand in this plot of land. We hope that you will join us in our next trip to the site of My Father’s House on December 10 where we will be giving a Christmas program and distributing food and gifts to the children of this poor community.
